Council of Governors

The Hazardous Materials Information Review Commission (HMIRC) is governed by a tripartite Council of Governors, consisting of members representing labour, employers, chemical suppliers, and the federal, provincial and territorial governments responsible for occupational safety and health. Each governor is appointed by the Governor in Council to hold office for a term of up to three years. The Council is headed by a Chairperson chosen by the governors for a one-year term.

The Council is responsible for making various recommendations to the Minister of Health, including changes to the regulations respecting HMIRC`s fee structure.
